River Promenade

Built with Indiana limestone, the promenade trail provides the perfect path to explore the park and the river and features stone-cut carvings depicting buildings in the U.S. made with Indiana limestone.

The River Promenade is a half-mile paved pedestrian walkway along the upper west bank of the White River. Opened in 1988, the promenade travels behind the Indianapolis Zoo along the river. On the north end of the promenade, visitors are greeted with an incredible view of the downtown Indianapolis skyline accompanied by the White River and Old Washington Street Bridge.
