The 5 ALARM 5k Run to Remember presented by TenCate will take place Thursday, April 28th at 6:00pm at the White River State Park, located just a short walk from the Indianapolis convention center. This event, previously known as the Courage & Valor 5k, is part of the FDIC national convention (Fire Department Instructor’s Conference) and is hosted by the Firefighter Cancer Support Network (FCSN).
The 5K run is to remember firefighters battling cancer, honor firefighters who’ve lost their battle to cancer and celebrate firefighter cancer survivors. Money raised from the run supports the mission of the FCSN, to assist firefighters and EMS providers and their immediate families diagnosed with cancer by providing badge to badge support, training and guidance. This event is open to everyone, and offers a scenic, flat and fast course that winds around the beautiful Indianapolis Canal. Participants are provided with an absolutely safe (no traffic crossings) opportunity to enjoy a brisk fun run or walk with their fellow firefighters, family and friends. Participants will have the option to be timed or un-timed.
Timing and management of the run is organized by Tuxedo Brothers Event Management. Cancer is the leading cause of death to firefighters. The 5 ALARM 5k Run to Remember is your chance to get out and show your commitment to supporting firefighters battling cancer, honor firefighters who’ve lost their battle to cancer and celebrate firefighter cancer survivors. FDIC is where leaders go to train. If we say we are leading the fire service, then we need to lead by example.
The run will conclude with a short presentation where the awards will be given out near the finish line to the top finishers of the event.
